Hometown: Visalia, California

Year in School: Senior

FIDM Major: Visual Communications

FIDM Campus and Start Date: LA, Summer 2013

Admissions Advisor: Kristen Cochek. I started talking to her toward the end of my junior year and she was amazing! Even after being accepted, she is still there to help guide me with any questions I might have, which is so comforting to know.

Tell us a bit about yourself. I have loved fashion since I was little, but it wasn't until freshman year that I realized I was more creative minded. I took art classes in school and my love for art grew into a passion. I love it all, from painting to throwing outfits together to now my recent interest in graphic design. I also play on our school soccer team and I am a cheerleader. In my rare spare time I love to read or paint.

What are your proudest accomplishments so far? Out of my accomplishments so far, I am proud to be on such a successful soccer team, holding a California state record for most consecutive league games won. I'm also proud that with being so involved in school activities and sports that I have maintained High Honor Roll all my years of high school.

What made FIDM right for you? I had always dreamed of working in the fashion industry and when I took a tour of FIDM during my sophomore year of high school I immediately fell in love. After learning about the Visual Communications major I knew that FIDM would help me excel with my talents and interests.

Describe your entrance project. For my entrance project it was three projects combined. The first one I had to come up with a design for a circle square and triangle, the second one that I created was a window display, and the third was an interior of a store. The circle, square, triangle project I painted and the last two I did in Photoshop.

What are your career goals? As far as careers go I am very open minded! One of the reasons I chose Visual Communications was because it is so broad. I love that it can take me so many different places. I think it would be so fun to get into the Advanced Study Program and have an opportunity to learn set design, but I am open to anything that intrigues me!

What do you expect to learn at FIDM? I am so excited to start learning how to further my artistic skills and abilities! It is such a dream come true to be able to learn and someday work in the fashion industry. I can't wait to see what FIDM has in store for me!
